Let’s talk back fat!

Hey did I hear someone click at the mention of the words back fat?

Aha, you are not alone my dear, there is a whole gang behind you that could back up your resentments in volumes!

I have been ‘chubby’ for the best part of my life so far so believe me when I say, I have been stung by that wasp too! I mean, my brother once mistook the lump of back fat I once had for a swelling, *sighs*. I felt body shamed but then it served as the wake up call I so needed too.

I call them reverse boobs, some call them bra bulge, but I think with its potential to ruin a perfectly nice outfit, we can agree to call it a NUISANCE!

So, what exactly causes back fat?

To answer that, it is important to note that back fact develops way deep into the back where a system of four intertwined muscles lays. These muscles have minute spaces beneath and around them.

During our childhood ages, these muscles tend to be well-built and thick. Sadly, we begin to fill fat in these tiny spaces intentionally such as by eating poor diets or unintentionally such as by posing poorly which accumulates alarmingly over time.

Notably, as time goes by the fat enlarges and age takes a toll on our bodies. Consequently, the muscles begin to grow thinner and gravity pulls the muscles together with the lumps of fat around it down.

As if that is not enough, most women lack knowledge on their accurate bra sizes and ends up putting on ill-fitting bra. This right here my darlings, is the ultimate highlight of your reverse boobs.An ill-fitting bra makes the extra tissues pop some more!

With all the said and done, lets get into the top three hacks to getting rid of back fat:

  • Focus on Exercises Targeting upper and lower back muscles

Well i don’t know if you’ve all heard but spot reducing is a sheer myth. By spot reducing i mean the notion that people think you can loose fat in a specific area by aiming at building the muscles around it.

However there are exercises that have been customized to specifically work out the lower and the upper back that can enable one sculpt their backs. Stay tuned for the next post for I will exclusively cover back exercise and diet to help you achieve that well-toned back.

  • Create a Caloric Deficit

A caloric deficit means burning more calories than consumed. Technically, 1 kg is equivalent to 7700 calories and getting rid of a kg a day is sufficient for achieving calorie deficit.

The smartest way of cutting down calories is by minimizing the intake of food that has poor nutritional values yet are filled with calories such as processed foods and sugary drinks. Combined with fat burning exercises, creating calorie deficit can lead to acquiring tremendous changes within a short time.

  • Wear the Right Bra Size

A bra that is way tight causes ugly bulges accentuating the back fat and unpleasant spillages on the cleavage. On the other hand, an extremely larger bra gives the bra some room for the back of the bra to move upwards and thus it pushes the skin at the back with it.

Just a slight hint ladies, before your next bra shopping ensure you get your sizes right! With the right size one can comfortably use the middle hook fastener.

As much as back fats are unpleasant, one should keep in mind that spot reducing is a myth. On a positive note though, combining the accurate exercises, calorie deficit plan, nutritious diets, right dressing, and good postures might just tone your back well.
